Microbiology
Through routine monitoring of surface water and drinking water at the local and state level, we ensure that our clients comply with EPA requirements defined in the ‘Total Coliform Rule’ and the ‘Surface Water Treatment Rule’.
Cell Biology & Virology
Cel Analytical currently offers tissue culture assay(s) for evaluating cytotoxicity of biological contaminants in food and environmental samples.
Molecular Techniques
We use quantitative real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR), including microbial source tracking (MST), for the amplification of DNA/RNA to provide our clients with faster and more accurate pathogen identification.
Immunochemistry
Cel Analytical performs the US EPA’s ADDA-ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) method for the detection of cyanotoxins in source water and surface water. We also us chemiluminescence assays for the detection chemicals such as estrogen in water.
Case Studies
-
Water Research Foundation
Serving as the lead laboratory for the Water Research Federation (WRF) Direct Potable Reuse Phase 2 (DPR-2) pathogen monitoring in raw wastewater campaign (2019-2021).
-
Protozoa
Cel Analytical has been certified and approved to participate in many inter-laboratory projects, including the EPA ESWTR-LT2 monitoring for Cryptosporidium and Giardia (2018-2021).
-
Microbial Source Tracking
Host-specific primers and probes based on published sequences are used in source tracking using marker genes for ruminants, humans, geese, dogs, and gulls.
